Tunes are the heart of instrumental folk music. Learning them, collecting them, obsessing over them, sharing them -especially sharing them- is all par for the course. Players spend most of their time learning good solid tunes in their traditions (and rightly so), but there's also something to be said for newer, original music. After all, the music has to grow somehow!
