Interested in learning Irish flute or pennywhistle? Already play, but want to develop your style or repertoire? Looking for a creative way to have fun?

Lessons are offered in a variety of formats:

 

Private Teaching

Instrumental Lessons - Regular weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one sessions designed to help the student develop his or her playing as deeply as possible. As a convenience, lessons are set on a flexible schedule and are offered in the student’s home.

Small Group Lessons - These can be arranged to accommodate family members or friends who would like to have the close attention of a private lesson but prefer to study together. Limited to 2 students per lesson.

Music Theory – Individual tutoring sessions for those interested in learning more about music theory, or looking for coaching and review prior to sitting for the Royal Conservatory of Music's Theory examinations. Topics covered include everything from learning to read music to intervals/ear training, scale and chord construction, rhythm, harmony, and musical analysis

 

 

Workshops & Other Programs

Jason presents music workshops and educational programs designed for festivals, colleges, museums, cultural organizations and other community-based groups.

Current offerings include:

A Fire in the Heart: An Introduction to Celtic Music - a 10-week program that introduces traditional music through discussion and practical, hands-on learning. Ideally suited for continuing/adult education curriculums or community organizations.

Whistle 101 -a basic introduction to playing the pennywhistle

Irish Flute 101 - an introduction to the basics of playing the Irish flute

Improvisation for Roots Music - focuses on the element of improvisation in folk music, both as a survival tool and a means of "making the tune your own."

Riverside Celtic College - Jason teaches as part of the faculty at the Riverside Celtic College (RCC) which offers a wide variety of classes including Beginner Tin Whistle, and Advanced Tin Whistle/Flute.

Classes meet in the Fall and Winter and are a great way to break into Celtic music, make new friends and have fun!
