As the winter holidays approach, come join Nollaig and Gaedelica as they celebrate the season with a series of intimate Celtic concerts!
This Decemeber a new winter tradition comes to southwestern Ontario as Nollaig! gets ready to present a series of intimate "house parties" featuring a unique mix of traditional dance tunes, English & Irish songs,storytelling and carols. A lush blend of fiddles, flutes, harp, piano and voice will transport listeners to a time and place where friends and family gathered in their homes to share in each other's company and together revel in the quieter joys that the winter months hold in store.
The festivites begin with a house concert in Guleph, ON on Satuday December 5th, followed by a performance at The Wingham Theatre (Wingham, ON) on Sunday December 13. Two more house concerts round out the series on Saturday December 19 and Sunday December 20th in Stratford, ON.
Nollaig! features the impressive talents of Saskia Tomkins (fiddle, viola, nyckelharpa), Tara MacKenzie (vocals, harp, guitar, accordion), Beth Beech (piano) and Jason Pfeiffer (flutes, whistles, percussion). Following on the success of their October debut, Gaedelica will appear at the Registry Theatre on Saturday December 12th. The duo opens for Rant Maggie Rant as part of a Celtic Christmas concert presented by Folk Night at the Registry. Described by Registry Theatre programmer Lawrence McNaught as "one of Canada's finest ensembles," Rant Maggie Rant will present a program "steeped in Celtic myth and music."
