Welcome to the December 2009 edition of The Triskell Studio News! While we've been lucky and the snows have not yet arrived, Winter is still almost here, and so are the holidays! There's plenty of music happening in December, plus a new CD release, and some exciting new Celtic music classes lined up in the new year.
NEWS
"Nollaig! Live" Now Available for Pre-Order
As part of their 2009 concert season, Nollaig! will release a limited-edition recording featuring live highlights from their upcoming performances. CDs are being offered at a special holiday price of $15, and will be available for shipping mid-December.
To reserve a copy, send an email with "Nollaig Live CD Pre-Order" in the subject line. All reservations will be contacted prior to shipping for payment.

Nollaig, Gaedelica Gear Up For Holiday Season As the winter holidays approach, come join Nollaig and Gaedelica as they celebrate the season with a series of intimate Celtic concerts!
This Decemeber a new winter tradition comes to southwestern Ontario as Nollaig!gets ready to present a series of intimate "house parties" featuring a unique mix of traditional dance tunes, English & Irish songs,storytelling and carols. A lush blend of fiddles, flutes, harp, piano and voice will transport listeners to a time and place where friends and family gathered in their homes to share in each other's company and together revel in the quieter joys that the winter months hold in store.
The festivities begin with a house concert in Guleph, ON on Saturday December 5th, followed by a performance at The Wingham Theatre (Wingham, ON) on Sunday December 13. Three more house concerts round out the series: Friday December 18 in Greensville, ON, Saturday December 19 and Sunday December 20th in Stratford, ON.
Nollaig! features the impressive talents of Saskia Tomkins (fiddle, viola, nyckelharpa), Tara MacKenzie (vocals, harp, guitar, accordion), Beth Beech (piano) and Jason Pfeiffer (flutes, whistles, percussion). Following on the success of their October debut, Gaedelica will appear at the Registry Theatre on Saturday December 12th. The duo opens for Rant Maggie Rant as part of a Celtic Christmas concert presented by Folk Night at the Registry. Described by Registry Theatre programmer Lawrence McNaught as "one of Canada's finest ensembles," Rant Maggie Rant will present a program "steeped in Celtic myth and music." An evening not to be missed!

TEACHING/CLASSES
Riverside Celtic College is nearing the end of its Fall 2009 term and its been grand fun! All of the students are playing wonderfully and we're all looking forward to the end-of-term celebration and the holiday break.BUT the Winter 2010 term is just around the corner. Watch the RCC website for updates!
New Celtic music class in Cambridge, ON. In January, I'll be teaching a course through the Cambridge Centre for the Arts called Fire in the Heart: An Introduction to Celtic Folk Music.This class is geared specifically towards folks who have an interest in learning about Celtic folk music but haven't had very much experience with it. It will be a great way to make friends and enjoy the music!! Visit the Centre's website for class dates and enrollment details.
Traditional music lessons coming to Listowel, ON. Plans are in the works to offer group and private flute/whistle lessons once or twice a month in Listowel starting in Spring 2010. More information to come in the new year!

Copies of HAWP's Storm & Calm Still Available
HAWP's CD release tour in November was great fun and we had some wonderful performances - particularly at the Barrie Folk Festival and at the tour's closing house concert in Shakespear, hosted by our gracious friends Paul & Teresa. Thanks to everyone who came to hear us and share their company.
