An award-winning musician with a diverse background of teaching, performing and writing, Jason Pfeiffer is an Irish flute and whistle player based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He pursued studies in Jazz Performance at the Manhattan School of Music (NYC) and William Paterson University (NJ) and was awarded a B.A. in Religion & Music from LaSalle University (PA).

Jason came to traditional music in the mid-1990’s while living in Philadelphia, PA. He immersed himself in the city’s Irish Music community and quickly became a regular performer at area festivals, venues and dances, playing with some of the city’s finest musicians. In 2003, he made his recording debut as part of The Wexford Boys on Seems Like Only Yesterday....

With forays into everything from Jazz to World music, Jason has played with such artists as Latin percussionist Ray Barretto; jazz musicians Benny Golson, Rufus Reid, James Wilson, Art Farmer, and Jon Faddis; multi-instrumentalist Steafan Hannigan (Loreena McKennitt, Sin e); fiddlers Anne Lederman (Fiddlesong, Njacko Backo, LOKA), Jay Weiler (Hadrian’s Wall, Allison Lupton Band), Sahra Featherstone (Fig for a Kiss) and Saskia Tomkins; and guitarists Andy Webster (Brolum, Calasaig) and John Brennan. He has appeared internationally at festivals, pubs, coffeehouses and folk clubs as well as at concert halls such as New York's Lincoln Center and Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

In addition to his performing activities, Jason is an accomplished teacher. He has taught in various festival workshops and presented master classes on traditional music, as well as developing a full-length college course introducing participants to the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland. He teaches privately and is part of both the faculty and the Board of Directors of the Riverside Celtic College.
